Madeline “stormwhy” Hanitijo (they/she/he) is a queer, Chinese-Canadian digital artist, game developer, and creative technologist based in Toronto with a passion for game engines and DIY electronics. Their piece, Fishing for Compliments, is a fishing mini-game played with an unorthodox controller: a physical fishing rod! This piece is based on their love of the humble fishing mini-game, which is short, sweet, and positively unnecessary. Fishing for Compliments provides a much needed solace from whatever you are supposed to be doing. Ripple Effects, the theme of this year’s Multifest, is present in the waters which Otis the Bat fishes out of, and also in how whimsy, play, and rest are key elements that permeate all aspects of one’s life.
