Transmission: A Transatlantic Project Exploring Innovative Modes of Exhibition

Transmission is an exhibition featuring 15 art students in partnership from OCAD University, UAL: Wimbledon College of Arts (UK), and City & Guilds of London Art School (UK). The logistics of distance inevitably prompted the participants in this virtual residency to question what it means to create material works in a world increasingly dependent on screens and virtual spaces—especially at a time when sustainable approaches to art practice and exhibition making feel more vital than ever. And, the enduring value of material practice has been recognized – the haptic, embodied and corporeal – and its ever evolving cultural, social and political connotations.
