Alex Garant: Dreams of Dreams

In this series exclusive to stackt market, visual artist Alex Garant presents her biggest works to date. Her larger-than-life characters featuring her signature style display one's battle between their inner self + outer persona. As long periods of staring into nothingness collapse with lucid symbolism amid resting hours, our newly found unfamiliar world fed inspiration for this collection. On a technical level, Garant defies the effects of transparency while using an alla prima method. Her creative journey pushes her to almost-abstract compositions, contrasting with the pieces' realist figurative elements.

Internationally celebrated + renowned as the ‘Queen of Double Eyes’, Québec-born, Toronto-based visual artist Alex Garant is an innovator of Contemporary Figurative Op Art, creating unique oil paintings that offer graphic quality, combined with traditional portrait techniques. She is a leader in analogue Glitch Art, using patterns, duplication of elements, symmetry, + image superposition as key elements of her imagery. Her paintings are a reflection of human duality + the battle for self-definition. Represented by several prestigious galleries throughout the United States + Australia, her work has also been featured in several museums, including Museum of Art + History (MOAH) in California, the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum in Arizona, the Honolulu Museum of Art in Hawaii, + the Fullerton Museum Center in California.
