Tell us the story behind Chakra Chokers. It started in Georgetown in 2021 and has grown into a Toronto favourite—what was that journey like, and how did you decide to make STACKT your flagship home?
Chakra Chokers was created with creativity and self-expression at its core. The brand started as a therapeutic outlet- a way to channel creativity and find calm through making jewelry. The goal has always been for others to experience that same feeling: the joy of creating, expressing themselves, and finding a little bit of magic through accessories. From the beginning we Chakra Chokers was designed to stand out as a customizable jewelry brand. Our pieces are made to fit everyone, and we encourage customers to build their own jewelry and create something that feels uniquely theirs. Whether it’s choosing charms, gemstones, or chains, the experience is about designing a piece that reflects your own style and energy. Today, STACKT Market is our flagship location as it perfectly reflects who we are as a brand. Our community is creative, adventurous, and always exploring new trends.
The name “Chakra Chokers” suggests a deep connection between energy and self-expression. How do you define “soulful sparkle,” and how does it inspire the pieces you create?
To us, “soulful sparkle” means jewelry that reflects who you are and how you feel. It’s about pieces that carry energy, personality, and intention. We believe jewelry can be a small but powerful form of self-expression, and that idea inspires everything we create. Many of our pieces incorporate gemstones, charms, and customizable elements so customers can build jewelry that feels personal to them. Whether someone is drawn to certain colours, stones, or symbols, the goal is for each piece to hold a little meaning, individuality, and make you feel like you are sparkling and glowing while wearing it.
One of your most popular features at STACKT is the Lucky Charm Bar. Why was it important for you to let customers become the designers of their own one-of-a-kind pieces?
The Lucky Charm Bar was created because we wanted customers to be part of the creative process. Jewelry is such a personal form of self-expression, so it felt important that people could design something that truly reflects them. It also makes the perfect personalized gift! We believe everyone should be able to create their own piece and their own little bit of magic and the Lucky Charm Bar lets customers mix and match charms and chains to build something completely unique to them. It also brings a really fun, interactive energy to our space at STACKT. Customers can book private party’s, visit in-store with friends, experiment with different charms, and leave with a piece that holds meaning or tells a story.
Beyond the charms, you offer Permanent Jewelry and fully customizable lengths. How does this focus on a “perfect fit” reflect your commitment to jewelry that is as unique as the person wearing it?
We’ve always believed jewelry should feel personal and not one-size-fits-all. Offering Permanent Jewelry and fully customizable lengths allows us to create pieces that truly fit the person wearing them, both physically and stylistically. Everyone has different preferences when it comes to how they like their jewelry to sit, whether it’s a choker, bracelet, waist chain, or anklet. By customizing each piece in-store, we can make sure it fits perfectly and feels like it was made just for them. Permanent Jewelry is also a memorable experience for friends, partners, or family to share together whether its a special event or just a fun experience!
You use high-quality materials like 18k gold plating over surgical-grade stainless steel, making your jewelry waterproof and tarnish-resistant. Why is the “wear-it-everywhere” durability such a core part of the Chakra Chokers brand?
We design jewelry to be part of everyday life, not something that has to be taken off or saved for special occasions. Using high-quality materials like 18k gold plating over surgical-grade stainless steel allows our pieces to be waterproof, tarnish-resistant, and durable enough to truly be worn everywhere and everyday. We want people to feel confident wearing their jewelry all the time, whether they’re at the beach, traveling, working, or out with friends. Jewelry should move with you through life and still look beautiful.
STACKT is known for its interactive retail. What is it like watching someone sit down at your Charm Bar for the first time and build something that tells their personal story?
Seeing our customers at the Lucky Charm Bar is fun because everyone has a different vision of how they want their piece to look. At first, people are often just drawn in by all the different charms and gemstones, but as they start choosing pieces, it quickly becomes something more personal.You’ll see people pick charms that represent memories, loved ones, travels, or little symbols that mean something to them. What starts as a fun activity turns into a moment of storytelling and creativity.
Since opening your storefront here, what has surprised you most about the Toronto community and the “vibe” they bring to your shop?
Since opening our storefront here, one of the most surprising and exciting things has been how creative and open the Toronto community is. People really embrace the experience of building their own jewelry and aren’t afraid to try new styles, mix charms, or create something totally unique. Customers come in with friends, treat it like an activity, and take their time designing pieces that reflect their personality or a memory they want to carry with them.
With the seasons shifting, are there specific stones or “intentions” you find people gravitating toward right now? Anything new on the horizon for Chakra Chokers?
As the seasons shift, we definitely see people gravitating toward lighter, brighter stones and colours that feel fresh and uplifting for spring and summer. It’s always interesting to see how people are naturally drawn to certain stones or symbols depending on how they’re feeling or what they want to bring into their lives. To gear up for summer, we are introducing chunkier, beachy statement necklaces and pieces that embrace the free spirited summer vibe.
