Ontario College of Art and Design University (OCAD) and Michigan State University (MSU) are embarking on a cross-border-themed COIL with two drawing classes exploring portraiture. The curricular-based project will entail a portraiture exchange where students will create a drawing of their peers in the opposite location.

“Faces and Traces: A Cross-Border Portrait Project” is an exhibition showcasing a portrait exchange between students from OCAD University, Michigan State University, and SUNY Geneseo. Students shared emails and ephemera that reflect their personalities and locations, fostering relationships across the Canadian-American border. The OCAD U International Programs & Collaborations Office, the Faculty of Art Office at OCAD U, the Canadian Studies Centre and the Department of Art, Art History and Design at MSU and the Art History Department at SUNY Geneseo support this Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) experience.
